These verses lay out a clear path of God’s design for our sexuality. Just as we’ve seen all week, His heart is for our good. When we step outside the boundaries of what He’s designed, we cause harm not only to ourselves but to others. While the world tells us to gratify ourselves, God calls us to be set apart. We are all guilty of sexual immorality – viewing and/or practicing sex outside of God’s design. But we’ve been given an amazing gift – forgiveness at the foot of the cross and the Holy Spirit to help and guide us.
“Those who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to his cross and crucified them there. Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives” (Galatians 5:24-25, NLT).
Spend some time now in the presence of Jesus. Thank Him for nailing the passions and desires of your sinful nature to the cross once and for all. Surrender anything that’s still keeping you from His design. Then ask for discernment to hear the Spirit’s leading in every part of your life, including your relationships. Commit to following wherever He leads.
