True joy.

Series: Waymaker | Week 3: Light in the Darkness

John 20:20-21
“As He spoke, He showed them the wounds in His hands and His side. They were filled with joy when they saw the Lord! Again He said, ‘Peace be with you.’”

As the resurrected Jesus stands in the midst of the disciples, He proves to them that He is, indeed, the same person who was just crucified three days earlier by showing them His wounds. Jesus had promised His disciples that He wouldn’t leave them as orphans, that they would see Him again, and that, because He lives, they also will live. He didn’t come to offer them a new idea or thought, He came to offer Himself.

Respond in Prayer
Do you truly believe that Jesus conquered death and rose from the grave? If so, it changes everything. Respond now as these first disciples did in the presence of their resurrected Savior. Their circumstances hadn’t changed but they were filled with joy at the sight of Him! Spend time worshipping today, asking God to help you experience a joy and peace that isn’t determined by what’s happening around you.

For Families with Kids at Home
Ask yourself today: how can I show my family joy beyond our circumstances today? How can I show my kids that my joy comes from the Lord, and not from what’s happening around us?
