John 20:21-22
“Again He said, ‘Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I am sending you.’ Then He breathed on them and said, ‘Receive the Holy Spirit.’”
Jesus tells His disciples that, just as He was sent by God to save people from their sins and restore them to relationship with their Heavenly Father, so He sends His followers. Jesus finished the work He was sent to do—to live among people, to love them, to teach them, to suffer for them, and to rescue them. Through the power of the Holy Spirit, we, His followers, also now have the same mission.
Respond in Prayer
What mission has Jesus called you to? Who in your life needs the message of hope that a resurrected Jesus brings? Spend some time talking this over with Him now. Ask God to strengthen you, through the power of the Holy Spirit in you, to be able to carry out His mission to love those around you well—even when it’s hard, even when you are called to suffer for it. God has promised 'at just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.’ Thank Him for that promise.
