Respond
When God returns, it will be a sobering day for many people. Yet in the midst of the fiery details of this passage, we’re told to look forward to that day, “hurrying it along.” For followers of Jesus, we’ll finally see Him usher in the new heavens and new earth He’s promised. Until then, we’re urged to usher in His Kingdom right now, living peaceful, pure lives and bringing light into darkness.
Waiting for His return isn’t reason to wring our hands in worry or sit back in complacency. It’s a reason to get to work. We have so much to look forward to, and we want to bring as many people with us as we can.
Are you living a life that’s hurrying along the Kingdom of God? How are you shining light in darkness and bringing help and hope to the world around you? If you haven’t accepted Jesus as your Savior, start there, inviting His hope into your life. Then ask Him to show you ways to advance His Kingdom right where you are.
