This week in Daily Bible Reading, we’ve been reading some of our Mother’s Day guest’s favorite verses, centered around the themes she shared with us on Sunday. If you missed her conversation with Aaron Brockett, check it out here.

Review
1. Why are we told to never give up?
2. What do our present troubles produce?
3. How should this change our perspective?
Reflect
Today we’re wrapping up this Mother’s Day week with a final reminder of what truly lasts. In the midst of a world that can consume our time and energy, Paul reminds us that everything we experience here on earth is temporary. Our troubles are temporary and our victories are temporary, in light of what’s to come.
When we leave this earth, we’ll leave something behind. We don’t have a choice. So we have to ask ourselves, “What story will be told at the end of my life?” God wants us to have eternity on our hearts and minds. He wants us to plan for our future home in heaven, setting our hearts there.
Instead of focusing solely on this life – adventures to pursue or career goals to reach – what if you shifted your focus to heaven? What if you lived your days for the moments that impact eternity? What if you made it your goal to live a story that goes on forever? Hold onto what has lasting value, and build your life with eternal significance. In the end, that’s what matters.
Respond
Based on today’s reading, what do you think God is prompting you to do in response? Write it down, share it with a friend, and take a step to start making it happen.
