This week in Daily Bible Reading, we’ve been reading some of our Mother’s Day guest’s favorite verses, centered around the themes she shared with us on Sunday. If you missed her conversation with Aaron Brockett, check it out here.

Review
1. What event was looming near for Paul?
2. How did he describe the way he had lived?
3. What was he looking forward to?
Reflect
Paul reached the end of his life, and as he looked ahead, he also reflected back. Throughout his life, Paul remained faithful. He poured himself into the one goal worth living for – spreading the truth and hope of Jesus. And as he neared the end, he affirmed that it was all worth it.
As we look at our own lives, this is a good opportunity to evaluate. Are we living with intention so we can finish well? Anyone can start well, but staying faithful to the finish is not so easy. We’re in the race of our lives. As we come down the straightaway, striving for the finish, a crown awaits us. The grandeur that’s coming will be worth whatever we suffer or lose in this life.
So are you living today with the finish in mind? How can you keep your eyes less on this world and more on the ultimate prize? Instead of measuring success by listing your accomplishments, what can you do today that will matter in eternity? These questions are just the beginning to living a life that finishes well.
Respond
Based on today’s reading, what do you think God is prompting you to do in response? Write it down, share it with a friend, and take a step to start making it happen.
