Hold on to hope.

Series: Hold On To Hope | Week 1: Hold On To Hope

Psalm 42:4-5
“My heart is breaking as I remember how it used to be: I walked among the crowds of worshipers, leading a great procession to the house of God, singing for joy and giving thanks amid the sound of a great celebration! Why am I discouraged? Why is my heart so sad? I will put my hope in God! I will praise Him again—my Savior."

As the Psalmist remembers happier times, maybe you can relate. Being honest, acknowledging to God your disappointments and worries is always a good first step. But then notice what the writer does next, as he’s introspective, he remembers where his hope belongs and redirects it back to God.

Respond in Prayer
• Take a minute to ask God to point out where you may be getting stuck in discouragement and sadness. Ask Him to show you if there are places you’ve been putting your trust and hope other than in Him. Confess these to Him and then praise Him for all the ways you’ve seen Him provide and care for you.

For Families with Kids at Home
• Pray with your kids today, and as you do, thank God for who He is. Remind them that your family’s hope is in Jesus, and that no matter what happens, Jesus is still King. He died for us so that we can be with Him forever.
