Read Hebrews 12:14-15

Discover
1. What two things are we to work at and why?
2. What are we to watch out for?
3. What are the results of a bitter root?

Respond
1. What would it look like for you to pursue holiness by working to live at peace with everyone? Pick one person you don’t have peace with and pray for them now. Ask God to show what you can do to live at peace with them.
2. Roots start with seeds and can grow deep and strong over time. What offense are you holding onto that’s allowing bitterness to take root in you? An unfair situation? A person who hurt you? God wants so much more for you! Ask for His strength to not allow those seeds to take root and to dig out anything that has taken root in you already.

For Families with Kids at Home
Pray over your kids today, to let go of any bitterness they may be holding against someone. The next time they share how they have been wronged try not to confirm that offense, but help them see it from the other person’s perspective and help them to let go of the bitterness they may be feeling.
