Foster and Adoption Ministry

CARING FOR ORPHANS IN THEIR DISTRESS

Globally and right here in Indianapolis, a distressing number of children are abused, abandoned, or neglected. Foster care faces a nationwide crisis, and Indiana alone has over 12,000 children in the system. The demand for stable, loving homes far outpaces the supply, leaving basic needs unmet. Children sleep in offices and shelters. Foster parents are overwhelmed and unsupported. Caseworkers are stretched beyond capacity.

God’s Word compels us to step forward, lock arms, and defend the fatherless. Isaiah 1:17 and James 1:27 reveal God’s heart for orphans in our community and world.

Our goal is to come alongside foster and adoptive families and provide the resources and support they need to thrive at home. Together, we can make a difference.

Foster Care & Adoption Resources

Foster and adoptive parents are stepping into a broken system and doing incredible work. We are here to support you in a variety of ways, including wraparound support, handyman services, and support groups.

Our Resource Center provides brand-new items at no cost to foster, adoptive, and kinship families. Items include diapers, wipes, car seats, beds, and baby gear.

Care Communities offer foster families emotional, spiritual, and practical support. A team of volunteers rallies around the family to provide childcare, tutoring, meals, and more.

Parenting children who have experienced trauma is hard work. Trauma-informed education gives foster and adoptive families the tools they need to parent kids from hard places. We offer trainings throughout the year to help you feel equipped and confident.

Financial grants help foster and adoptive families reduce out-of-pocket costs and ease the financial weight of this calling.

*Foster Grants: Foster families involved at Traders Point can apply for a grant to help cover expenses like childcare, schooling, trauma education, counseling, and extracurricular activities.

*Adoption Grants: Adoptive families can apply for a grant to help with costs associated with international and domestic adoption. Any individual or couple who has attended Traders Point for at least one year and is actively engaged at the church is eligible. Applications are submitted to Lifesong for Orphans for review, and decisions are forwarded to our Foster & Adoption Ministry for final acceptance. Traders Point currently awards matching grants up to $2,000.

Our Foster Parent Mentor Program pairs new foster families with experienced parents who have walked this path before. Through encouragement and practical guidance, mentors help families navigate the foster care system, manage transitions, and find the support they need. Above all, they offer a trusted connection to help families provide love and stability to vulnerable children.

The Handyman Team serves foster and adoptive families by helping with general household tasks such as fixing a leaky faucet, painting a child’s bedroom, or doing yard work. Families are responsible for the cost of materials. This service does not include emergency repairs.

All foster and adoptive families are invited to join us on the 4th Monday of each month from 5 to 7 PM at The Park, an indoor playground at our Northwest location. This is a free event. Let your kids play and connect with other foster and adoptive families. No registration required.

Men's and Women’s Support Groups meet monthly to offer community and care to individuals who are fostering or adopting. This is a safe space to share and process alongside others in similar seasons of life.

• Women’s Support Group: 2nd Monday of each month, 7 to 9 PM, Northwest campus

• Women’s Support Group: 3rd Thursday of each month, 7 to 9 PM, Fishers campus

• Men’s Group: 4th Monday of each month, 7 to 9 PM
