The Power to Choose.

Series: Let's Talk About It | Week 2: Addiction

Read Romans 6:16

“Don’t you realize that you become the slave of whatever you choose to obey? You can be a slave to sin, which leads to death, or you can choose to obey God, which leads to righteous living.”

Discover
1. What truth does the word ‘choose’ point to?
2. What two things are contrasted in this verse?
3. What is the end result of each?

Respond
Ultimately, addiction is being enslaved or bound to something. The truth of God’s Word tells us we actually have a choice in the matter! As followers of Christ, God gives us everything we need to live for Him – we have the power of the Holy Spirit in us, we have the body of Christ, and we have His Word. Whatever addiction you may be facing, don’t face it alone. Ask God to give you the strength to begin seeking help in all the ways He’s provided.

For Families with Kids at Home
Today, spend time praying for your kids’ future—pray that they would choose to obey God with their lives, and pray against any temptations that would keep them from him.
