Series: Let's Talk About It | Week 2: Addiction
Read 1 John 2:15“Do not love this world nor the things it offers you, for when you love the world, you do not have the love of the Father in you.”Discover1. What are the two different things we can love according to this verse?2. What do you think the author, John, means when he talks about the world?3. Why do you think he’s so cut-and-dry / either-or?RespondHuman beings are sinful by nature and our sin separates us from God. We sense that separation often as an emptiness, a longing, or a brokenness. What does the world offer you to try and fill that space? Spend some time with God now asking Him to show you the places where you have believed the lie that something besides God will fill it. Ask for His discernment to hear those lies, and tell Him that you want your love for Him to outpace your love for those things the world offers you.
