Today’s culture tells us to constantly strive for something different and better, including in relationships. While there’s a place to take proactive steps toward change in many areas of life, Paul says there’s also a place to be content. How can we “remain as we are” if we long for something different?
Psalm 37:3 points to a key part of contentment: “Trust in the Lord and do good. Then you will live safely in the land and prosper.” God sent His Son Jesus as the ultimate model of trusting in the Lord. Jesus never married, never had sex, and died single. And He was arguably the most complete person who lived.
Whether you’re married or single, take an inventory of your contentment levels. Is there an attitude or comparison that’s making you discontent? Turn it over to God, and take an active step today to tune out the voices of the world and listen to Him alone.
