Review
- Why should we put on all of God’s armor?
- Who are we not fighting against?
- What words are used to describe our real enemy?
Reflect
Whenever we look at conflicts in our world, whether wars, injustices, chaos, or division, we have to remember they’re a direct result of activity in the supernatural world. Today’s verses remind us who our real enemy is. God is a Holy Spirit, but we have an enemy who is an unholy spirit. Whatever God creates, Satan counterfeits. Whatever God builds, Satan breaks. Whatever God does, Satan seeks to undo and oppose.
We don’t wrestle against flesh and blood, which includes people from other nations, political parties, or lifestyles. We wrestle against the principalities and powers of the unseen world. The enemy deceives us into confusion, racism, and division, but the good news is that he’s no match for God. As followers of Jesus, we can stand firm because we follow God the Creator, and the Holy Spirit lives inside us and empowers us.
When you look at world events, do you think of people as the enemy? How is God awakening you to the real enemy and his schemes? What might need to change so you can recognize the real enemy and stand firm against him through God’s power?
