- How does our perspective on time differ from God’s?
- Why is the Lord patient (verse 9)?
- How should we live now in light of what’s to come in the future?
Reflect
The day of judgment is depicted as an event that will come unexpectedly. Yet despite the picture that’s painted, today’s verses point to hope. Our timetable is different than God’s, and His timing is always perfect. We see chaos around us and wonder why He isn’t stepping in, while He wants to give us more time so that one more person might have one more chance to come to Christ. He’s not waiting just to make us suffer. He’s waiting for you! He’s waiting for your lost friend, your prodigal child, and the people around the globe who don’t know Him yet.
We can easily get lured asleep with our everyday lives, issues, and problems. But the truth remains: Jesus will return, and as long as you’re breathing, there’s still hope. Let’s look forward to the new heavens and new earth, but let’s also take every minute we’re given to share Jesus with one more person. There’s so much to look forward to, but there’s also so much to share right now.
Do you ever question God’s plan or timing? How is He shifting your perspective to view things from a hope-filled perspective and a missional purpose? Who do you know that needs to hear the hope of Jesus? How can you share with them today?

Pray through these questions, and write down what God is prompting you to do next. Share with a friend, and take a step to apply it.
