Yesterday we read these verses, specifically looking at the new identities given to the recipients of Peter’s letter. Today we’re unpacking what those new identities meant for their attitude and actions. They were exiles in a foreign land. Yet because of their new identity in Christ, they were called to show others how good He is. To love unconditionally and bring His light into darkness.
We too have the same calling. Because we’ve been chosen and received God’s mercy, we can show that same mercy to others. Because our lives have been changed, God can use us to effect change in the lives around us. No matter who we are or where we are, we’ve been hand-picked to be His instruments to make a difference in this world.
How seriously do you take that calling? Have you let God change your heart into one that’s loving and merciful? How can you bring light into darkness near you today? Pray through any people or situations that come to mind, and ask God to use you to make a difference.
