If you were told to pack up all you own and leave everything you know for an unknown destination, would you do it? Abram is a powerful example of obedience, displaying a willingness to follow wherever God leads. He had the promise of immense blessing, but that didn’t make his journey easy. He walked through enemy territory and lived an unsettled lifestyle.
Yet as he traveled, he repeatedly built altars to the Lord. During that time, altars were an act of sacrifice, but they were also used to worship God and mark special moments with Him. Before Abram became a father, he was a builder of altars. A man who obeyed, sacrificed, and praised his God.
Is there an area where God is calling you to leave the comfortable for the unknown? How often do you pause to worship God and mark special moments with Him? Take a few minutes to do that now. Commit to follow Him wherever He leads, and let today be the beginning of regular moments of sacrifice and praise.
