Read These Proverbs
Discover
1. What repeated themes do you notice in each of these Proverbs?
2. What does each one have to say about anger and our tempers?
3. How does each one point to the way we can use words wisely?
Respond
1. Are you easily offended and quick to anger? Give some thought now to what triggers your anger and how you respond when angry. Pick one of these Proverbs to write down somewhere visible and commit it to memory.
2. Ask God now if you are widening the gap between others and Jesus or closing it with the conversations you have, the words you post, and the responses you give. Before you speak, post, or respond, ask Him to help your motives be pure and your words be full of grace and love.
For Families with Kids at Home
This past week in Kids Ministry, preschoolers looked at how we can show gentleness and elementary kids looked at how goodness is doing what is right. If you haven’t already had your kids watch the Kids messages, check them out here. Then follow up with a conversation (the parent guide is right there!) with your kids about gentleness and goodness.
