Let the Spirit renew.

Series: Screen Time | Week 2: Power Down

Ephesians 4:22-24
“throw off your old sinful nature and your former way of life, which is corrupted by lust and deception. Instead, let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes. Put on your new nature, created to be like God—truly righteous and holy.”

Just as Romans 12:2 instructs us to be ‘transformed by the renewing of your mind’, Ephesians 4:23 tells us to ‘let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes.’ There’s a theme: a battle for our minds and our attention is happening and we need to be aware of it! Our screen time is just one tool the Enemy can use to distract us from the work the Spirit wants to do in us. But as believers, we don’t have to give in. We’ve been given a new nature, like new clothes to replace the old filthy ones.

How intentional are you about your relationship with God and your spiritual growth? The problem with not being intentional is we end up going through life on autopilot and are much more easily conformed to the patterns of the world. Do some thinking right now about how you can be proactive about putting away distractions and spending time with God so that the Spirit has space to renew your thoughts and attitudes.
