Understanding the times.

Series: Screen Time | Week 1: Glowing Rectangles

1 Chronicles 12:32
From the tribe of Issachar, there were 200 leaders of the tribe with their relatives. All these men understood the signs of the times and knew the best course for Israel to take.

The leaders of this tribe in Israel payed attention to the times in which they lived and it informed the way they lived their lives. We, as Christ-followers, have a tendency to lean to extremes when it comes to living in our current culture–we become enamored with it and, as a result, end up conforming to it, or we become annoyed with it and end up isolating ourselves from it. This verse shows us we can find a balance between the extremes. We can pay attention to the culture and, in turn, use our Bibles to interpret the best course of action for us to take in these times.

When it comes to our current culture, to which extreme have you leaned – conforming to it or isolating from it? What are some steps you can begin to take to become more balanced like the believers in these verses?
