Reflect
Yesterday we read a sobering reminder that we don’t know God if we continue to willfully sin. Today, we read the good news: We do know God if we humble ourselves into a posture of surrender. Living in the light means reflecting the knowledge, purity, goodness, truth, holiness, and reliability of God.
What does this look like in everyday life? It means we live authentically, not hiding sins or deceiving others. We pursue purity and truth with a desire to live out the gospel wherever we are. We recognize that the blood of Jesus has cleansed us; therefore, we commit our whole lives to Him, not just the parts we want.
We will never understand grace until we feel the weight of why we need it. In other words, we’ve got to grasp how sinful we really are before we can see how gracious God is. He sent His perfect, sinless Son to earth to sacrifice His life on our behalf. This is the best news ever! Let’s fully grasp it, awaken to the truth of who God is, and step into the light.
Respond
• When you think about your typical day, would you say it’s marked by humble surrender?
• Does your life consistently reflect the knowledge, purity, goodness, truth, holiness, and reliability of God? What gaps do you see?
• If God has convicted of a sin you need to confess, what could you do this week to bring it into the light and change your course?
Pray through these questions, and write down what God is prompting you to do next. Share with a friend, and take a step to apply it.
