Read Luke 5:8-11

Discover
1. Picture Simon Peter’s reaction in verse 8. What has he been made aware of beyond just awe of the haul of fish?
2. How does Jesus respond to Simon Peter? What new purpose does He give him?
3. What do Simon, James and John all do as soon as they return to shore?

Respond
1. Has being in the presence of God ever left you with an utter sense of His awesomeness and your own sinfulness? Take some time now to come into His presence and worship Him. Maybe play a worship song or get out into nature – whatever helps restore your awe of God. Confess any sins to Him and thank Him that He faithfully forgives.
2. Simon Peter’s heart of repentance is enough to qualify him for a new calling and a new purpose. Hear Jesus’s words to Simon Peter as words for you, too. Jesus gives you a clean start and says ‘from now on’. No matter what specifics it is He calls you to, the call to love God and love people is His ultimate purpose for you.
