Discover
1. Where does Jesus go after leaving the synagogue? What do you learn about Simon Peter from these verses?
2. Beyond just spiritual healing, what do these verses show you Jesus also has the power to heal?
3. To what extent can Jesus heal according to the response of Simon Peter’s mother-in-law?

Respond
1. Have you ever struggled with why God physically heals some people here on Earth and not others? It can be hard to read stories of Jesus healing people as you struggle through a physical illness yourself. Ask God to heal you knowing He has the power to do so, but also pray for the ability to follow Him even if He doesn’t.
2. If you’ve placed your faith in Christ alone for salvation, thank Him that one day you will be reunited with Him in Heaven! Thank Him for this picture of Heaven that we get to glimpse. Meditate on these verses and worship Him today.
