Respond
Yesterday we saw the warning to King Nebuchadnezzar of his downfall. Today we see the fulfillment of it. Nebuchadnezzar was bloated with pride, boasting of what he’d built. That very moment, he went from being the most powerful man on earth to being a madman. Only when he acknowledged God and submitted to Him were his sanity and kingdom restored.
So often in our own lives, we view things like Nebuchadnezzar. We look at what we’ve built – whether career, wealth, knowledge, or stuff – and view ourselves as the creators and originators of it. But nothing we have is because of our greatness. It’s because our great God has given them for us to enjoy and use for His glory.
What are you most tempted to take credit for? Where do you see pride sneaking into your attitude or mindset? Turn it over to God now. Be humble before Him and acknowledge that everything you own or do is because of His generous hand. If needed, seek out a friend for accountability.
