Your identity as His child.

Series: modgniK | Week 2: Others First

John 13:12-14
“After washing their feet, He put on His robe again and sat down and asked, “Do you understand what I was doing? You call me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord,’ and you are right, because that’s what I am. And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet.”

Jesus has been with the disciples long enough to know that if there is a takeaway from the day, chances are they missed it. But Jesus doesn’t want them to miss this! If we call Jesus Teacher and Lord, we are His followers first and foremost. When we know that we belong in the family of God, as His son or His daughter, that title supersedes every other title. The life of a believer should look different.

What are the barriers that are keeping you from following the example Jesus modeled of putting others first? Timing? Waiting for the perfect opportunity? Your title? Talk in your groups this week about what you might be placing before your role as a son/daughter of God.
