The Promise Is for You Too.

Series: Rally Cry | Week 3: Never Stand Alone!

Day Two Acts 2:38-41

“Peter replied, ‘Each of you must repent of your sins and turn to God, and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. Then you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. This promise is to you, to your children, and to those far away—all who have been called by the Lord our God.’ Then Peter continued preaching for a long time, strongly urging all his listeners, ‘Save yourselves from this crooked generation!’ Those who believed what Peter said were baptized and added to the church that day—about 3,000 in all.”

Discover
1. What is the overarching message Peter delivers to the people gathered in Jerusalem on Pentecost?
2. What word does he use to describe the Holy Spirit?
3. Who is the promise for?

Respond
After Peter himself received the Holy Spirit, he was immediately empowered to give the first ever sermon in the Christian church (go back and read it here)! And with miraculous results – 3,000 people believed the gospel message he preached and became a part of this new community, the local church. This same message is true today and it's for everyone. Pray today for those in your life who haven’t yet believed this saving message of forgiveness of sin through Jesus. Pray that the Holy Spirit would pierce their hearts to receive it, act upon it, and become a part of God’s community of believers.

For Families with Kids at Home
The church is here for a specific reason, and it starts with introducing the world to Jesus. Today, pray with your kids for those who don’t know Jesus and pray for an opportunity to share Jesus with them. (A great way to do this is to invite someone to join you and your family for Easter at Traders Point!)
