The presence and power of Jesus.

Series: FOBO (Fear Of Better Options) | Week 3: What If?

Mark 6:48-49
“He saw that they were in serious trouble, rowing hard and struggling against the wind and waves. About three o’clock in the morning Jesus came toward them, walking on the water. He intended to go past them, but when they saw him walking on the water, they cried out in terror, thinking he was a ghost."

Is Jesus trying to blow off the disciples? Absolutely not. The term parerchomai means ‘to pass by’, in Greek, is a technical term referring to those defining moments when God makes a striking and temporary appearance in the earthly realm to a select individual or group for the purpose of communicating a message. It’s the same term used when God passed by Moses in Exodus 33 and by Elijah in I Kings 19. In each situation, God is getting ready to call them to do something extraordinary. This same presence and power is available to us today!

Respond

1. Has God called you to something, but you still feel afraid? Say “yes” to God today and experience His presence and power in your life! Step out in faith. Share your decision with a trusted friend or group member.

2. Don’t miss out on experiencing God’s glory because you’re too focused on the storm in your life. Look up. Ask God to help you focus on Him today, and not your circumstances.
