Social distance, not social isolation.

Romans 12:9-13
“Don’t just pretend to love others. Really love them. Hate what is wrong. Hold tightly to what is good. Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honoring each other. Never be lazy, but work hard and serve the Lord enthusiastically. Rejoice in our confident hope. Be patient in trouble, and keep on praying. When God’s people are in need, be ready to help them. Always be eager to practice hospitality.”

What would it look like for us, as a church, to really love people in this time of fear and uncertainty? These few verses in the book of Romans show us so many ways that we can be a blessing to our community and our city. Difficult times don’t excuse us from practicing them. Instead they offer us an opportunity to truly practice loving people, honoring them and offering them genuine hope, help, and hospitality. Pick one or two to focus on each day.

Respond in Prayer:

1. As we socially distance ourselves from one another, ask God to help you not isolate. Pray for all those in our world affected by disease and sickness. Ask for God’s healing hand upon them. Pray for those in our communities who will lose jobs or pay because of the pandemic we are facing. Ask God to show you how you might be a blessing to them!

2. Ask God to show you how you can be the light and love of Jesus Christ to someone today. Bring hope and help to our city during this challenging time. Stay tuned to our Make a Difference page for how we’re doing that as a church and how you can do that, too.
