1. What humble action did the woman take to be healed?
2. By what name did Jesus refer to her?
3. How did He encourage her?

Respond
The bold faith of the woman looking for a cure is an inspiration. Jesus honored her faith and encouraged her in front of the crowd. Calling her “daughter'' was another way to bless and honor her. His mercy for hopeless people reveals His kind heart, and throughout His earthly ministry, many more healings like this were recorded.

Not only did Jesus model kindness by relieving the woman of her suffering, but He also spoke life-giving words of encouragement.

Are you someone who encourages and uplifts others with your words? Who in your life needs an extra measure of encouragement and kindness this week? Spend a few minutes reflecting in prayer. Thank God for modeling encouragement, and ask Him for eyes to see the people around you who are discouraged or need hope. Then take a step to be like Him in the way you speak to others.

Want to go deeper? Encouragement is a great way to extend kindness to the people in our lives. Read this article for a deeper dive into the ministry of encouragement.
