Review

  1. Where does Jesus stand?
  2. What will He share with those who answer Him?
  3. What does He promise to the victorious?

Reflect

Jesus wanted to be present and active in the Laodicean church. For Him to stand at the door and knock meant He was on the outside of the community. He rebuked those believers for not noticing that He wasn’t inside with them, but He also extended grace and invited them to answer His call.

We have the same invitation today to let Jesus in. He promises to share a meal as friends, which is a token of acceptance and an intimate occasion, where we will dine as equals. We don’t have to fear that there won’t be room for us at the table, or that we won’t have anything to offer. Jesus has saved us a seat, and He’s the one to provide everything we need.

All you need to bring is yourself. Without Him, even your best efforts can only leave you poor, naked, and blind, but because of Him, you can receive eternal riches and let Him clothe you in His righteousness. If you want that seat beside Him at the table, you can have it.

Respond

  • Where do you imagine Jesus right now – inside or outside of your life? Take a moment to listen for Him. What might He be saying to you now?
  • Do you worry about having a “seat at the table” or not having enough to offer? How does today’s reading encourage you? (If you want to talk with one of our pastors about inviting Jesus in, you can reach out through our Contact Us form or by emailing info@tpcc.org.)
  • Who could you invite to the table the same way Jesus invited you? What will you tell them to encourage them?

Pray through these questions, and write down what God is prompting you to do next. Share with a friend, and take a step to apply it.
