Day Three 1 John 4:18

”Such love has no fear, because perfect love expels all fear. If we are afraid, it is for fear of punishment, and this shows that we have not fully experienced his perfect love.” 1 John 4:18 (NLT)

Respond
Sometimes it can be a challenge to let faith overcome fear. In this letter, John is writing to an audience that had been influenced by a message contrary to the Gospel. They were unsure of their faith and started to fear punishment rather than the God who loved them. John wanted to assure them that God’s perfect love, fully expressed in Christ on the cross, was a love that banished fear and called them to a deeper experience of God’s loyal love for them. Every day is a new chance for us to experience the depths of God’s love as well. Take some time today to ask God to remove any barriers that are keeping you from encountering His perfect, loyal love.
