A new life.

Colossians 3:1-4

Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honor at God’s right hand. Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth. For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God. And when Christ, who is your life, is revealed to the whole world, you will share in all his glory.

As believers in Jesus, we have a new life! The moment we believed, our old sinful life died and we received a new life, hidden (concealed and safe) in the resurrected Christ. We gained a new place as a beloved child in the family of God and our home and citizenship are now in heaven, not earth. The promised return of Jesus is also a promise for us that we will be with Him in glory someday!

These are some amazing truths that we can tend to gloss over if we aren’t careful. Reread these verses and let them sink in for a minute or two. How much of your day is ruled by thoughts of heaven? Do you have an eternal perspective on the people and circumstances in your life or an earthly one? Can you say as verse 4 says, ‘Christ is my life’? Pause for a minute to thank God for Jesus, that we have a new life because of Him, that we have a secure eternity in heaven because of Him. Ask for His help in shifting your thoughts to the realities of heaven and the amazing truths of these verses.
