We want High School Camp to be a place where students build real friendships, grow in faith, and fully experience God’s presence—without digital distractions. That’s why phones will not be permitted at camp this year. While this is a new step for High School Camp, it’s one we’re able to take confidently because camp is closer to home and allows our team to stay closely connected with families if needed.
Creating a phone-free environment helps students unplug from everyday noise and fully engage in community, teaching, worship, and meaningful conversations. Research shows that stepping away from constant screen time can reduce anxiety, increase joy, and deepen relationships—and time and time again, students tell us that unplugging becomes one of the most meaningful parts of their camp experience.
We also know, as parents, that your student’s safety and your ability to stay informed matter deeply to you. While students won’t have their phones, our team is fully equipped to care for them and keep you connected throughout the week. Here are several ways we’ll do that:
1. Sign up for text communication
We will use text messaging exclusively for transportation updates. You’ll receive confirmation when buses arrive safely at camp on the first day, as well as departure notifications and an estimated return time on the last day. To opt in, text “YES” to 317-768-0777 or update your communication preferences in the Traders Point app.
2. Watch for daily recap emails
Each day of camp, you’ll receive an email with highlights from the day, ways you can be praying for students, and a link to photos so you can see what God is doing and catch up on the fun.
3. Call the direct camp contact number
If something comes up at home and you need to reach a staff member or your student, you can call 317-765-1971 to speak directly with a member of our Youth Team.
4. Encourage your student to communicate with their group leader
Group leaders are your student’s primary support throughout camp. They are there to guide the experience, help students navigate challenges, and advocate for their needs. Leaders always have personal cell phones and direct access to camp staff. Forgot something? Feeling sick? Have a concern? Tell your group leader. We also have medical volunteers on-site to care for students as needed. As you prepare your student for camp, we encourage you to talk with them about using their leader as a resource and practicing self-advocacy.
Our heart is to create an environment where students feel safe, known, and fully present—so they can experience all that God has for them at High School Camp.
