What do you believe to be true?

Series: FOBO (Fear Of Better Options) | Week 2: How Do I Find The One?

Proverbs 7:16-23
“'My bed is spread with beautiful blankets, with colored sheets of Egyptian linen.

I’ve perfumed my bed with myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon. Come, let’s drink our fill of love until morning. Let’s enjoy each other’s caresses, for my husband is not home. He’s away on a long trip. He has taken a wallet full of money with him and won’t return until later this month.' So she seduced him with her pretty speech and enticed him with her flattery. He followed her at once, like an ox going to the slaughter. He was like a stag caught in a trap, awaiting the arrow that would pierce its heart. He was like a bird flying into a snare, little knowing it would cost him his life.”

This woman clearly believed there was a better option for her than her husband. She probably had things going on in her life that led her to this spot. Her heart was telling her some things that caused her to justify her actions. Maybe she was lonely or didn’t feel loved, so she went looking for her better option. And the young man followed her, ‘little knowing it would cost him his life.’

Respond

 1. Think about the things you put in your mind and heart on a daily basis that influence your beliefs. Are there books, TV shows, or relationships you know aren’t good for your heart but yet you are justifying them?

2. Pause for a minute to think about the gravity of where these things might be leading you and make the decision to turn and walk the other direction.
