For Families with Kids at Home:
It can be easy for us to fall into the trap of thinking that God loves us more when we do good things. But, Paul says the opposite in verse 16, “So it is God who decides to show mercy. We can neither choose it nor work for it.” That’s good news, because none of us is good enough to earn God’s love. Fortunately, God already loved us enough to send Jesus to pay for all our mistakes! Start a conversation with your kids this week and ask them if they feel like they need to earn God’s love. Encourage them that, just like they don’t have to earn your love as a parent, they also don’t have to earn God’s love!
