For Families with Kids at Home:
In these verses, Paul is saddened by the Jewish people because they’ve tried so hard for so long to earn God’s favor by following the rules God gave them. But for all of their enthusiasm and their trust in “the rules” to make them right, Paul says that they’ve “stumbled over the great rock in their path,” because they’re unable to follow all the rules perfectly. Meanwhile, Paul says that the Gentiles are right with God because they trust Him, even though they’re unfamiliar with all the rules! Have a conversation with your kids this week about what it means to place your trust in Jesus to make you right instead of trusting in “doing good things” to make you right.
