Respond
Yesterday we read about Elijah’s mountaintop-to-wilderness experience, where he found himself alone in despair. Today we see God’s answer, and it might surprise you that it involved something as “unspiritual” as getting up to eat. In so many ways, our physical wellbeing is directly connected to our spiritual, mental, and emotional health.

Just as the angel encouraged Elijah to care for his physical body, we need to do the same. If we’re going to have the strength to live for Christ in this world, we have to take care of every part of ourselves. This means getting enough rest, exercising, and giving ourselves good nourishment. God deeply cares about us in every way, and as we obey Him, we can trust that He’ll provide what we need.

How well are you caring for yourself right now? Are you caring for every part, not just spiritual but physical too? What steps can you take this week to build your physical strength for the spiritual journey ahead of you? Pray about it now, and then put it into action.
