Reflect
Jesus fulfilled many prophecies in the Old Testament when He came to earth. His presence as fully God and fully man fulfilled this passage which promised “God is with us.” Jesus lived a perfect, sinless life and laid it down on the cross in exchange for the sins of everyone who would believe in Him. Three days later, He rose from the grave, defeating death and offering freedom, hope, joy, and peace.
He calls us into His presence today, not only to be loved, but to be changed. When we’re in His presence and focused on Him, it changes the presence we bring to those around us. We are His image-bearers, showing His character to those who desperately need to know there’s a God who always keeps His promises. We can be most present with our loved ones when we prioritize being in His presence first.
How does the promise that “God is with us” encourage you today? Who can you share this good news with? What steps can you take this Christmas season to prioritize being in Jesus’ presence, and who can you invite to join you in seeking Him?

Remember
During At the Movies, each week we’ll focus on remembering what we read. If you’re new to memorizing Scripture, start by looking at one section of one verse to remember this week.
Read Isaiah 7:14 again to remember. If you want to begin by memorizing just part of it, start with this phrase:
“She will give birth to a son and will call him Immanuel (which means ‘God is with us’).”
Memory Tip: Listen to the Scripture every day, either by reading it out loud or by listening to audio versions of the Bible. You can find audio through various Bible apps or videos online.
