Read Isaiah 43:1 in your personal Bible or at the link provided.

Review

  1. How is God described?
  2. What does He tell us to do?
  3. What has He done for us?

Reflect

Isaiah prophesied to the Israelites during a great trial in the nation’s history. God made a covenant with Israel and promised that the whole world would be saved through them. This was and is being fulfilled through Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection. Throughout all of history, God has known His people’s names and called them into His presence.

Today, God knows each one of our names and invites us into relationship with Him, too. We are called to love Him and love others, and we can do that by following His example. Calling our loved ones by name means taking the time to get to know them well. Inviting them in shows our care for them and our desire to have them near us.

Who in your life needs to be invited in and called by name? How does God’s example inspire you to be fully present with your loved ones this season? Is there anyone who needs to be reminded of His love for them, and how can you encourage them that He knows them by name?

Respond

Pray through these questions, and write down what God is prompting you to do next. Share with a friend, and take a step to apply it.

Remember

During At the Movies, each week we’ll focus on remembering what we read. If you’re new to memorizing Scripture, start by looking at one section of one verse to remember this week.

Read Isaiah 7:14 again to remember. If you want to begin by memorizing just part of it, start with this phrase:

“She will give birth to a son and will call him Immanuel (which means ‘God is with us’).”
