Life’s Great Priority

Series: MasterClass | Week 7: Putting Worry in its Place

Day Four Matthew 6:33

33 ”Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.” – Matthew 6:33 (NLT)

Learn From the Word
One of the tremendous things about the teachings of Jesus is that He never asks us to remove a bad habit or practice from our lives without giving us a replacement for it. Instead of worry, Jesus instructs us to replace it with seeking after the right things. When seeking God’s Kingdom above all else is our first and greatest priority, Jesus promises that our needs will be met and every other priority will fall into its proper place.

Put It Into Practice
Take some time to think about the things you seek over the course of a normal day: success in your role? Sleep? Comfort? Possessions? Jesus knows that seeking after these things is often the cause of worry in our lives. Whatever it is that you seek above building God’s Kingdom, confess that to Him now. Ask Him to put your priorities in their proper order in a way that brings Him glory and gives you a life of peace.

For Families with Kids at Home
Oftentimes we can try to build our own kingdoms instead of being focused on building God’s kingdom. This often looks like doing things that benefit us instead of doing things because they’re the right thing to do. Brainstorm with your kids two or three examples of what “building their kingdom” might look like.

When we chase after God and seek to build His kingdom instead of our own, God promises that we will always be taken care of!
