In John 1, Jesus is referred to as the Word. And as we see in today’s passage, Jesus is one with God and is God. He gave life through creation, and then He brought Himself low. He came to earth fully human and fully God, all so we could have life and light. When we look at the world around us, it can be easy to forget Jesus. We might spend our holidays in survival mode or trying to keep up with the person who “has it all together.” But if we do that, we miss the life and light that Jesus came to bring. What do you tend to focus on during the Christmas season? How does the truth of who Jesus is shift your perspective? Spend some time reflecting on today’s verses, and praise God for the sacrifice Jesus made to bring you life and light. Ask Him to open your eyes to see Him more clearly. Want to go deeper?
