These two verses are a perfect endcap to 1 Corinthians 6, laying the foundation of why we’re called to honor God with our bodies. We’re not just followers of God; we’re also image bearers of God. This means we have dignity, worth, and value.
Jesus came in a body, lived a perfect life in a body, was crucified with nails driven through His body, and His body was resurrected. We didn’t make, redeem, or resurrect our bodies. They’re God’s. And He sacrificed Himself so we could experience clarity, grace, freedom, and beauty over brokenness.
Have you fully grasped the truth of these verses, or is there still an area you’re holding onto as your own? What would it look like to experience the clarity, grace, freedom, and beauty that only Jesus can bring? Spend a few minutes with Him now, thanking Him for living inside of you and giving you life. Ask Him to help you honor Him with your body and reflect His image to the people around you.
