God in the darkness.

Series: Anxious Christmas | Week 2: You Are Not Forgotten

Read Isaiah 8:21-9:1

Discover
1. What words does Isaiah use to describe what life was like for the people of God (Israel)?
2. What two regions of Israel, in particular, will experience this darkness?
3. What does Isaiah say will happen for them in the future?

Respond
When you look at the words Isaiah uses to describe God’s people, which one do you identify with most right now? Weary? Angry at God? Despairing? Hungry for something that can’t be satisfied? It can be hard to understand in the midst of it, but God has been and is near in the darkness. Come to Him now with whatever it is you’re walking through. He’s with you and He hears you. Rejoice that, One Day, there will be no more darkness.

For Families with Kids at Home
As you spend time with your family this week, be mindful of what emotions your kids are experiencing right now. Are they weary, a little extra irritable, anxious, or lonely? Pay extra attention to what your kids might be trying to tell you, and remind them that God is with us always.
