Conviction for connection.

Series: Summer in the Psalms | Week 4: Get Real

Psalm 51:4-7
Against you, and you alone, have I sinned; I have done what is evil in your sight. You will be proved right in what you say, and your judgment against me is just. For I was born a sinner—yes, from the moment my mother conceived me. But you desire honesty from the womb, teaching me wisdom even there. Purify me from my sins, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.

Conviction of sin is a gift from God, leading us back to relationship with Him. However, three common experiences and beliefs can hinder our ability to understand and respond to conviction:

1. You were made to feel unworthy of God’s love.
2. You’ve chosen to be unfazed by God’s love.
3. You’re unconvinced that there is a God like this.

These three experiences and beliefs are lies! God is for you, not against you. He wants to free you from the things that are holding you in bondage from the life of purpose He created you for. He wants to heal your relationships. He wants to rebuild the connection with you that has been damaged by sin.

Today, ask God to reveal where you might believe any of these lies and to help you begin operating in this truth: Conviction is a gift from God leading you back to relationship with Him!
