Come to Me.

Series: Achilles | Week 4: Don't Get Taken Out

Day Three Matthew 11:28-30

28 ”Then Jesus said, ‘Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.’” – Matthew 11:28-30 (NLT)

Discover
1. What is the very first thing Jesus invites us to do in verse 28?
2. According to verses 28 and 29, what is the result? What word is repeated?
3. In verse 30, what words describe the yoke of Jesus?

Respond
A yoke is used by two animals to pull a cart or piece of equipment. Jesus calls us to take on His yoke, which implies that we still do some sort of work. What kind of work do you imagine that to be? Spend some time reflecting on verse 30. Ask God to reveal to you what His easy yoke is like and what is involved. Say a prayer of gratitude thanking God that He calls us to simply come to Him and commit to Him, and He will do the rest.

For Families with Kids at Home
Sometimes we can place burdens on our kids that they were not meant to bear. Ask God to highlight any burdens or expectations that you have been unintentionally placing on your family. In what way can you provide relief for them today? What’s one thing you can do to rest with your family this week?
