A Hardened Heart

Series: Dirt | Week 1: Faint-Hearted

Day Four Read Luke 8:11-12
“This is the meaning of the parable: The seed is God’s word. The seeds that fell on the footpath represent those who hear the message, only to have the devil come and take it away from their hearts and prevent them from believing and being saved.” Luke 8:11-12 (NLT)

Discover
1. What do both the seed and the footpath represent in the parable?
2. How far does the seed get with this type of person?
3. Does the person ever truly believe?

Respond
It is possible to repeatedly hear the Word of God – to hear the gospel – and never truly believe or have a saving faith. The devil will do everything he can to prevent God’s Word from taking root in our lives by telling us lies and distracting us from truly hearing the message of God’s rescue of His people through Jesus. If this is you, you can place your faith in Jesus now. Just text “Jesus” to 87221** and one of our staff members would love to walk you through how you can do that! If you’ve placed your faith in Jesus, take some time now to pray for a loved one who has a hardened heart toward God.

For Families with Kids at Home
Spend some time praying for the soil of your kids' hearts. Pray that God would keep them open and soft to Jesus, and that he would keep you attentive to opportunities to share about Jesus' love with them.
