Wheeler Mission Ministries helps the homeless in Indiana. Founded in 1893, Wheeler is a non-denominational, Christian, social services organization, which provides critically needed goods and services to the homeless, poor, and needy of central Indiana.
They provide over 133,000 nights of lodging to men, women, and children each year. In addition to a safe place to stay and a warm meal, they want to provide authentic relationships and community. Hosting a Recreation Night not only provides some fun and entertainment, but also paves the way for relationships.
Step 1: As a group, spend time learning about Wheeler Mission and those they serve. Their website, wheelermission.org, is a good starting place.
Step 2: Pick an activity and plan a fun event for women & children staying at the Center. Be prepared for about 40-50 women and 10-20 kids. Ideas include arts & crafts, board games, spa night with manicures and pedicures, movie night with popcorn, etc.
Step 3: Recreation Night takes place on Friday and Saturday evenings from 6:30-8:30 PM. Pick a few dates that work for your group and contact Cindy Wright at [email protected] to verify availability.
Step 4: Have your Rooted Group Leader go to this website to register. Once scheduled, they should keep watch on confirmation details in their email and pass them along to the rest of the group!
Step 5: Pray for the women and children staying at the Center and your upcoming time with them.
