Who Will Free Me?

Series: Recalibrate | Week 7: Released from the Fight You’ll Never Win

Day Five Romans 7:21-25

Pray: Invite God into your time and ask Him to speak to you, then read the passage.

21 I have discovered this principle of life—that when I want to do what is right, I inevitably do what is wrong. 22 I love God’s law with all my heart. 23 But there is another power within me that is at war with my mind. This power makes me a slave to the sin that is still within me. 24 Oh, what a miserable person I am! Who will free me from this life that is dominated by sin and death? 25 Thank God! The answer is in Jesus Christ our Lord. So you see how it is: In my mind I really want to obey God’s law, but because of my sinful nature I am a slave to sin. – Romans 7:21-25 (NLT)

For Families with Kids at Home:
Here in Romans 7:21-25, Paul lays out the main problem: none of us has the ability to save ourselves! Paul states over and over that “I want to do what’s right, but I can’t.” And in verse 24, he asks the big question, “Who will save me from this life that is dominated by sin and death?” Then he gives the answer in verse 25: “Thank God! The answer is Jesus Christ our Lord.” None of us has the power on our own to save ourselves, but God loved us so much that while we were still sinners, He sent His Son Jesus to save us! Take time to pray with your kids today to thank Jesus for saving us when we could not save ourselves!
