1. Who will testify about Jesus?
2. What will the Holy Spirit bring?
3. How did Jesus describe His disciples?
Reflect
A testimony is a person’s account of something that’s happened. Expert testimony can be given in places like a courtroom, but Jesus wasn’t expecting His followers to be experts. Instead, He told them to give eyewitness testimonies. They’d been with Him for a few years at this point and had witnessed many teachings and miracles they could tell others about. And with the Holy Spirit’s help, this is how the church began to spread.
If we’ve put our faith in Jesus, we have a testimony He invites us to share with others. It doesn’t have to be perfect, and we can’t wait until we know all the answers. We’re simply called to tell others about how God has changed us, and His Spirit lives in us to help us with this.
When people in your life know you follow Jesus, they might treat you differently. Your reputation or image might change, but Jesus said this would happen and offered a blessing on those who are hated because they follow Him. You might lose things like opportunities or friends when you step out in faith to share your testimony, but God chose you and wants you to be a part of spreading His Kingdom.
Respond
Do those around you – your coworkers, family members, friends, and neighbors – know you’re a Christian? Why or why not? Spend some time in prayer asking God if there’s anyone He might be leading you to, to tell them about Him with your testimony or to show them His love through your actions.
