Matthew 4:19
And he said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.”
The third word that stands out in this command from Jesus is make. The purpose behind coming to Jesus with our lives and following Him on the path of discipleship is so that He can make us into fishers of people. He wants us to be lovingly engaging people and extending a loving hand to people far from God. Rest assured in the truth that Jesus does the work in us to accomplish this task! He makes us into the fishers. Abide in Him, love people, and keep your eyes open to the people He will put in your path who need this message of love and hope.
Make a commitment in the new year to do whatever it takes to remove unnecessary barriers that are keeping the people in your life from following Jesus.
