Reflect
John continues his dialogue about love by reminding us that it’s an expression of how we live in God and God lives in us. When we acknowledge Jesus as our Savior and Lord, the Holy Spirit lives inside us. How do we know? Because we recognize the truth about Jesus, that He’s the Son of God and the Savior of the world.
When we believe in Him, we get new eyes to see and a new heart to sense our sinfulness, along with God’s glory and grace. This is what it means to live in God and for Him to live in us. It’s not only the proof that we belong to Him; it’s the power that allows us to fight the spiritual war of this world with love.
Have you taken the step to believe in Jesus, inviting Him to give you a new heart and new eyes to see? If you have, do you live with awareness of the Holy Spirit living inside of you? How can you be more intentional to listen to Him as you follow Jesus’ example of love?
